Competitions

Hakola Competition
Mel Hakola was a distinguished voice teacher at 鲍德温 华莱士 为 38 years prior to his retirement. 的 Mel Hakola Prize 为 Academic 和 Vocal Excellence was created to encourage 和 reward voice students 谁 demonstrate exceptional vocal, 音乐的, intellectual 和 creative talents 和 abilities 和 谁 有 的 potential to make a significant contribution to 音乐 per为mance. 的 purpose of this prize is to promote 和 recognize a 高 st和ard of academic 和 音乐的 excellence among voice students at 鲍德温 华莱士. 的 competition occurs during 的 fall semester, 与 prize money credited during 的 spring semester of 的 junior year 和 的 fall semester of 的 senior year.

Lauria Concerto Competition
An annual concerto competition occurs each spring 和 is judged by three 专业 音乐家 from outside 鲍德温 华莱士 University. 的 goal of 的 competition is to encourage outst和ing student per为mance in 的 Conservatory through public per为mance 与 的 BW Symphony Orchestra or BW Symphonic Wind Ensemble. Up to one winner may be chosen 为 per为mances 与 each of 的se 乐团 annually. A monetary award is associated 与 的 prize as well.

教师 Resident Ensembles

Two 室 组 maintain residence at 鲍德温 华莱士 和 receive support from 的 University. While both include Conservatory 教师 成员, nei的r is an entirely 教师 ensemble.

的 Africa → West Percussion Trio is an ensemble-in-residence at 鲍德温 华莱士 University. It is dedicated to 的 per为mance of both Western 和 non-Western styles of percussion 音乐. CD recordings 是 available on Stellar Records. Members include:

的 Elysian Trio began its per为mance tradition as 的 鲍德温 华莱士 教师 Trio in 1948, 与 的 world premiere of Charles Ives' piano trio. 的 group per为ms an annual 系列 of concerts on 和 off 的 鲍德温 华莱士 campus. Each of 的 trio's 成员 is a distinguished teacher 和 solo per为mer. Members include:

  • Robert Mayerovitch, piano

Factory Seconds Brass Trio, established in 2012, brings a distinctive voice into brass 室 音乐 as its 成员 transcribe 和 per为m a growing body of early 音乐 和 seek collaborations 与 作曲家. Each member occupies 的 second chair position in 他们的 respective section 与 的 Clevel和 Orchestra. Members include:
